1957 Najarian Jensen 541R
I have my 1957 Jensen 541R for sale currently. It was converted in 1957 to
Corvette power (327/375hp) and a Muncie 4 spd, by Najarian Auto Sports of
Boston. I bought the car in 1977 and street raced it for six months (earning over
$10k). I then started restoring it. The unibody frame has been totally restored
and refinished in Euro-prime and black urethane. The suspensions including
the rear axle housing , spring leaves, front a-arms and coil springs are all black
epoxy powder coat. All wheel bearings, axle bearings, pinion and carrier
bearings are new. All seals are new. even the rubber bump stops are new. The
engine has been rebuilt with new 12 1/2 to 1 pistons, rod and main bearings, cam
(Duntov 30/30), lifters, timing chain, oil pump and Mallory dual point
distributer. The heads are 2.02 camels hump with fresh valve job. This is the FO
(factory order) THN ('67 375hp 327ci) block installed by Najarian's. The
transmission has been rebuilt with new bearings and seals (it was brand new
when installed) The gears look brand new. This car only covered 10,000 mi
since the conversion. I am in the process of duplicating the Najarian built
headers and exhaust in stainless tube with CNC 316 alloy flanges. The car has
four wheel Dunlop disc brakes, seventy two spoke wire wheels and Lemans red
stripe tires (with seventy percent tread). It is right hand drive.
The cars needs the body finished and painted, windshield (available new from
England), chrome plating and interior. I was planning to vintage race the car, so
I was planning a sparten interior, a roll bar and a fuel cell. These would be at the
purchaser's option but would be included in the price offered.
This car was appraised in 1988 by Robert DeMars at $55 to $65 thousand
finished. I have no doubt that in todays market it would easily exceed $100k.
I am offering the car finished as a vintage racer for $50,000. I will take a down
payment of $15,000 and $5,000 a month while restoration is completed with
the balance due on delivery.
