Formula Chain Drive Racing for the Fun of it!
|

I started Formula Chain drive in 2005 as a joke aimed at people who took vintage
racing too seriously (ie. too competitively). "Racing for the fun of it, ", what a concept!
As my buddy Jim Lyles says, "They're not paying us, it better be fun."
I am now pumping up the club to be a home for all period 500cc FIII and 1100cc FII
cars plus all other cars that remain period consistent. This includes even a brand
new car built to period and reproductions of original cars. The whole idea is to put
more cars on the grid. So many cars have been repatrioted across the pond and the
rest are hanging in peoples barns with no intention of racing that it is hard to get cars
out racing.
So far the only rules are a tire restriction (4.50 wide ft and 5.00 rear or metric
equivilant), drum brakes (at least on the front as period cars used disc brakes on
rear), and the ability to pass the safty tech inspection of the club organising that
particular event, and being period consistant.
We will be issuing log books for what ever cars can't get log books from VSCCA.
These log books will contain accurate car information and any "providance" will
begin with the issuance of log book.
